Fitness Club is an after-school activity open to all students at Fassett Junior High School. We meet once a week for an hour after-school. Fitness Club promotes an active, healthy life-style for young people. Club meetings include time for circuit training in Fassett's weight room, walking and jogging, jump rope, hula hoop, intramural sports (touch football, soccer, etc.), and other fun activities students can enjoy with their friends. We conclude each meeting with a healthy snack. Fitness Club also provides opportunities for students to participate in field trips twice a year. Past field trips have included boxing at the International Boxing Club, rock climbing and swimming at the Bowman YMCA, ice skating at BGSU, rollerblading at Maumee Bay State Park, etc. The $5 yearly fee covers the cost of all snacks and field trips.

Student Council is an extracurricular activity that promotes good citizenship, encourages high scholarship, builds strong school spirit and does so in a way that represents the ideas and interests of Fassett’s student body and our administration. To be a council representative, students complete a petition, prepare a speech that is recorded, and are voted in by their peers. The elections take place in the fall and are open to all 7th and 8th grade students who complete the steps to be on the ballot. These motivated students organize many events for our student body to participate in throughout the year. These events include dances, service projects and spirit driven contests to help create an overall positive school community that generates lasting memories.
Fassett GT students participate in Word Masters. They compete against their classmates and students across the country in vocabulary tests of critical thinking. Participating in the activity enhances their knowledge to better their vocabulary and thinking skills in every day academics and future important tests such as the ACT and SAT. There are three meets during the year, and they are held during class time. There are up to five practices before each meet for students to spend time preparing. Students who achieve the highest accumulative scores at the end of the year in each grade level are recognized at Honors Day at the end of each year.
The Yearbook Staff is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students that are interested in working together to create a piece of history for Fassett Junior High School. Using the computer and digital cameras, yearbook staff members attend school activities to take pictures, write stories, and design a yearbook to be sold. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to produce the best yearbook possible. Every student on the yearbook staff takes time out of their busy schedule to go to school functions to ensure that everyone gets the true sense of being a Fassett Eagle.
